Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO), established in 1990, is a service-oriented, scientific, national non-governmental organization constantly striving toward environmental sustainability and public that has worked in more than 55 districts of Nepal. ENPHO has been working in Nepal for more than 30 years. ENPHO’s mission is to develop, demonstrate and disseminate innovative technologies and systems to enable societies to become healthy and environmentally friendly. ENPHO envisages creating eco-societies by providing quality services on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), environment, and public health through research, innovations, promotion of the WASH technologies and approaches, and air pollution through the promotion of integrated community-based approaches, eco-friendly techniques, and technologies.

Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) invites applications from qualified Nepali citizens for, USAID Clean Air, a five-year initiative, which aims to improve air quality in Kathmandu Valley to approach National Ambient Air Quality Standards leading to improve health and education outcomes.

Position reports to: Project Officer

A. Required Minimum qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Public Health, Social Science, or any other relevant field with minimum one year of work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders at municipal level.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and representation skills.
  • Knowledge of national and international context on thematic areas, i.e. Environmental condition and conservation, urbanization and its impact, climate change, air quality.
  • Good oral and writing skills on both English and Nepali including documentation.
  • Excellent Knowledge of MS Office Package.

Duties and Responsibilities

The key duties and responsibilities of the position will be listed below.

  • Assist to strengthen capacity of relevant stakeholders including municipal authorities, civil society organization (CSOs), youth and volunteers on clean air initiatives.
  • Provide orientation, training and mentoring support to CSOs and mobilize CSOs for clean air campaigns and awareness events.
  • Support to co-design CSOs mobilization activities and SBCC campaign on clean air.
  • Support to organize co-creation workshop, consultation meetings with municipal level education stakeholders and support in localization of Green School Framework.
  • Enhance capacity enhancement of eco-clubs and school community to organize events on clean air in mobilizing eco-clubs and school communities.
  • Support active learning in schools addressing air pollution through capacity enhancement and extra-curricular activities members.
  • Support to enhance capacity of health workers and public health professionals to on promotion of healthy behaviors related to clean air.
  • Support to mobilize social mobilizers, city volunteers, trainee and other volunteers on clean air initiatives.
  • Commitment to respect and uphold ENPHO’s Vision, values and principles.
  • Performing any other duties, as necessary and instructed by the line manager.

Duration:

The duration of the position will for one year with possible extension.
