Information System Coordinator
Department: Operations – Nepal
Reports to: Senior Manager MIS
Scope of Work
The Information Systems Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the smooth operation of Helen Keller Intl’s Information Technology services and systems, including computers, networks, storage, internet and intranet connectivity, software applications, and server systems. S/he will be responsible for the operation, development, and support of several Management Information Systems and Applications, ensuring proper planning and organization of information security, disaster recovery, and backup systems in ICT. The job profile includes activities in software application support, providing tech support, and server and network administration.
The person is responsible for ensuring Helen Keller’s best practices are upheld, including adherence to the code of conduct, policies and procedures, financial accountability and making sure official matters are kept confidential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Infrastructure Management
- Install, maintain and update the components of the local area network, such as servers, routers, switches, firewalls, peripherals, printers, network nodes, terminals, and wires, following Helen Keller Intl standards
- Manage the internet connection for the office to optimize the office operation and efficiency
- Keep the network and computer equipment in the country and field offices supplied and plan for and carry out the regular replacement of hardware parts
- Perform regular server maintenance, event tracking, and performance monitoring duties configuration and security tasks
Network Administration
- Develop and implement network architecture strategies to accommodate current and future organizational needs based on the global Information Systems policies
- Maintain the stability and performance of the country office networks, performing quality control, troubleshooting steps, and working with vendors and service providers to isolate, diagnose and resolve network problems
PC and Application Management
- Perform PC configurations, per Helen Keller Intl’s IS Standards
- Perform application installation, configuration, testing, and upgrade tasks, per IS Standards
- Provide technical procurement specs for computer hardware and software and ensure the procured items are as per technical specification and meets USG889 regulation
Data Security
- Ensure that data backup and recovery systems are in place and functioning, per IS Standards
- Configure and maintain the use of available cloud storage applications including OneDrive for Business and SharePoint for staff, programs and operations team file management, and train staff in the proper monitoring and use of these tools
User Support and Capacity Building
- Provide desktop support services to office staff, performing problem identification and resolution for user problems
- Perform an IS orientation for new staff, and periodic refresher training for all staff
- Conduct regular trainings and orientations to the country office staff in information systems and applications
- Build the capacity of end users in available applications and systems
- Participate in regional or global-level working groups when assigned
- Special IS Projects: respond to special requests and/or projects related to improving the functionality and security of Helen Keller Intl’s Information Systems.
Representation: Represent Helen Keller International and its values at all levels.
Education:
Minimum bachelor’s degree in information and communications technology or related field, master’s degree preferred; Microsoft Systems certified.
Work Experience:
Five years of proven experience in working with Management Information Systems, Enterprise, or large-scale applications; and strong command over computer programs and networking, application implementation for programs and operations.
Capacity building, problem solver and a good team player. Well-developed written and oral communication skills. Ability to assess information system needs, and to recommend selection of appropriate hardware and software. Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide emergency support. Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
