Field Coordinator

Shangri-La Development Association (SDA) is a non-government, not-for-profit organization established by Youths for community development in 2014 A.D. SDA has been making community interventions since the inception of the organization. To date, SDA has conducted Shangri-La Sustainable Local Initiative Project (SSLI, SSLI-I, SSLI-II, SSLI-III, SSLI-IV,), School Building Reconstruction and Education Support Project (SBRES), Shangri-La Reconstruction and Development Project (SRDP) and One Time Support Project (OTSP). All the other projects done were incorporated in such a way that it supports the SSLI project and strengthens the interventions. Shangri-La Sustainable Local Initiative Project 5 (SSLI5) is a three-year project of the Shangri-La Association(SA), Switzerland / Govinda Association(GA), Germany, and SDA. The target project areas are Karnali Higher Secondary School, Anamnagar, Jumla, and Kailash Rural Municipality of Makwanpur district. SSLI targets two villages (Kalikatar and Bharta) of Makwanpur where approx. 1800 Chepang people live in 246 households. Apart from these, 40 deaf children in Jumla are the targeted beneficiaries through Jumla Special Children Project (JSCP). These children come from all over Karnali Region as the school with the support of SDA has the best possible facilities and support.

Period of Employment: 1 year and extendable

Salary: 40,000 to 45,000 (Per Month)

Reports to: Coordinator

The project coordinator will be responsible for implementation of Shangri-La Sustainable Local Initiative- V (SSLI-V) project. S/he will oversee the implementation of the project activities in Makwanpur district and JSCP project under SSLI-V in Jumla District in coordination with JSCP Coordinator. The role will be responsible for implementing the project and monitoring the performance of field staffs, manage relationships with stakeholders including local government in the field level. The position will be responsible for the overall administrative work of field office.

Supervisor Responsibility:

  • Project Field Staffs, Social Mobilizers, Wardens, Helpers

Administrative Responsibility:

 

  • Will be responsible for responding to general inquiries as well as diverting specific inquiries to the respective team members.
  • Will be responsible for documentation and clerical work like maintaining databases, records, bills, accounts, and so on in the field office.
  • Will be responsible for all payments and contract renewals in absence of the coordinator/as directed by the coordinator.
  • Will be assisting in all other activities required for the smooth functioning of the organization.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for coordinating, consolidating, and ensuring smooth implementation of projects and operations activities and adherence to logistic, human resource, administration, and security procedures at the field level.
  • Being a liaison point between the office and staff, s/he will be responsible to support, supervise, and facilitate the field team to perform project activities.
  • Support/conduct/organizes various community-level activities, training, workshop, and other required activities.
  • Supervise and monitor the project activities, manage the resources, lead the field team and provide constructive feedback to the field team.
  • Maintaining regular contact with stakeholders, local partners, NGOs, and Local government emphasizing the importance of SDA work towards community development.
  • Prepare weekly/ monthly/ semi-annual/ annual plans.
  • Produce and submit quality monthly, semiannual, and annual reports of the program on time to share with different stakeholders. Collect and document important case studies/stories and coordinate with PR officer for their publication in different medias.
  • Validate the data and information to reflect the project achievements, provide factual and accurate data and information as required by the organization.
  • An overall duty/responsibility of the Field Coordinator is to take care of SDA property including Literacy home and Agriculture land.
  • Motivate and encourage the field team towards personal development through their active participation and learning habits.
  • Ensure close monitoring of project activities and perform field visits to different schools/clusters, health posts and agriculture land as per the requirement.
  • Field coordinator is responsible for the protection/safety of the staff and girls living in the literacy home by following the safety guideline. As well as s/he will be in charge that the field staff are aware of organizational rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Provide support to the monitoring and evaluation team from Head office / Executive committee (EC) or any other appointed by EC.
  • Support coordinator in writing annual reports and a proposal draft collecting the ideas from field level.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by Coordinator/Line Manager or Executive Committee.

Academic Qualifications and Work Experience

  • More than 2 years experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or Masters preferred
