About Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC)
Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC) is a non-governmental organisation working for sustainable development and environmental justice in Nepal. Its focus areas of work include climate change, low-carbon development, resilience and disaster risk reduction, and environmental sustainability. In these areas, PRC conducts research and study, carries out policy intervention, builds awareness, knowledge and capacity of stakeholders, and facilitates dialogue among them.
Job Summary
The Communication Officer will be a full-time employee of Prakriti Resources Centre, reporting to the assigned line manager. The incumbent will play a vital role in enhancing the organization’s visibility, communicating its mission and impact, and building strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a creative mindset, and a strong commitment to sustainable development environmental justice.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Communication Planning
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategy aligned with PRC’s mission and objectives.
- Identify key messages and target audiences to effectively communicate PRC’s work, impact and learning for visibility and advocacy purposes.
Content Creation and Management
- Create compelling content for various communication channels, including website, social media, and press releases.
- Manage PRC’s digital platforms such as website, Facebook and Twitter, ensuring timely updates and engaging content.
- Develop multimedia materials such as blogs, articles, videos, infographics, and presentations based on PRC’s own programme experience and learning, its research findings and its engagement with other stakeholders to support communication goals
- Collaborate with and support internal projects and other teams to generate communication content, and as needed, write, and edit reports and other publications.
- Undertake other communication-related tasks as assigned by the line manager as and when needed.
Media Relations
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with news agencies, media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
- Pitch stories and press releases to local, national, and international media to raise awareness of PRC’s initiatives and campaigns.
- Monitor media coverage and track public perception of PRC’s work. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Establish key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and activities.
- Conduct regular analysis of communication efforts and provide recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably Masters) in Mass Media, Journalism and Mass Communication, Public Relations or relevant field
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in communication, preferably in the development sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
- Strong understanding of digital communication tools and social media platforms.
- Experience in media relations, including press release writing and media pitching.
- Creative thinking and ability to generate innovative ideas for communication campaigns.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia content creation is a plus.
- Willing to travel when work demands.
