Aasaman Nepal is going to implement SRHR and Gender equality/women empowerment including ending child marriage and harmful practices Programs in Madhesh Province, in the partnership with UNFPA(Proposed). The overarching objectives of the programs are to enhance reproductive health outcomes, eliminate gender-based violence, empower women economically and socially, and reduce child marriage. The integrated approach aims to provide comprehensive reproductive health services, promote gender equity, facilitate women’s economic empowerment through skill development and entrepreneurship, and contribute to the global effort of ending child marriage. These programs collectively strive to create a society where individuals, particularly women and adolescents, have the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to make informed decisions about their health, well-being, and future.

Aasaman Nepal is looking for the self-motivated, result oriented and hard-working Nepali citizen for the following position:

Safe House Incharge (Female only) – (Nos -4)

Location: Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha and Parsa
Position Type: Full-time

Overview:

The Safe House In charge will be responsible in overseeing and managing a safe and supportive environment for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This position requires strong leadership, compassion, and organizational skills to ensure the smooth operation of the safe house and the well-being of its residents. The Safe House Manager is responsible for coordinating with various stakeholders, providing essential support services to survivors, and maintaining a secure and nurturing atmosphere conducive to healing and empowerment.

Responsibilities:

1. Safe House Operations:

  •  Oversee the daily functions of the safe house dedicated to supporting survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), ensuring a secure and nurturing environment.
  • Implement and enforce security measures to uphold resident confidentiality and well-being, adhering to established protocols.

2. Resident Support:

  • Offer emotional counseling and support to GBV survivors residing in the safe house, fostering an environment conducive to healing and empowerment.
  • Coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure survivors receive essential medical, legal, and psychological assistance promptly.

3. Resource Management:

  •  Manage and monitor resources within the safe house, including provisions such as food, hygiene supplies, and other necessities, ensuring residents’ needs are met.
  •  Maintain inventory levels and procure necessary supplies in line with budgetary constraints and operational requirements.

4. Safety and Security:

  •  Conduct routine safety assessments of the safe house premises, identifying and addressing potential risks or hazards.
  •  Collaborate with local law enforcement and community stakeholders to enhance security measures and response protocols.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of resident intake, activities, and incidents, adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines.
  • Prepare regular reports on safe house operations, including statistical data and case summaries, to facilitate organizational monitoring and evaluation.

6. Staff Training and Development:

  •  Provide comprehensive training and guidance to safe house personnel on trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and effective support strategies for GBV survivors.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and professional development among staff members.

7. Community Engagement:

  • Establish partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and community leaders to raise awareness about GBV issues and promote access to safe house services.
  • Organize outreach initiatives and educational campaigns aimed at preventing GBV and fostering gender equality within the community.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in managing shelters or safe houses for survivors of gender-based violence.
  • Certification or training in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and GBV survivor support.
  •  Proficiency in written and spoken English, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of local laws, policies, and procedures related to GBV and victim services.
  •  Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when working with survivors of trauma.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and database management systems for record-keeping and reporting.

  • Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocates for the rights and needs of GBV survivors, empowering them to make informed decisions and regain control over their lives.
  •  Problem-Solving: Identifies challenges and obstacles within the safe house environment and implements practical solutions to address issues and improve operations.
  •  Adaptability: Adapts to changing circumstances and environments, remaining flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of residents and the community.
  •  Integrity and Ethics: Upholds high ethical standards and maintains confidentiality while adhering to professional codes of conduct and organizational policies.

Languages: Strong command of Nepali, English, Maithili, Bhojpuri (oral and written) and local language preferred/required.

Age Limit: Candidates between 21 years to 55 years are only eligible to apply for the above position, depending upon the nature of job they will carry.

All employees must adhere to child safeguarding in person’s provisions covered in the project agreement.

Monitor staff and partners’ and ensure adherence to Aasaman Nepal’s policies and internal procedures, protocols, Aasaman Nepal’s code of Conduct with special attention to Safeguarding Standards and Procedure, Case Handling Framework, Child Protection and Do No Harm Policies. Also, immediate reporting and redress of any complaints and issues based on its severity.
