Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Carpentry Maintenance Worker. This vacancy is open to all interested applicants.
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

The incumbent carries out scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and repair work on finish and interior assemblies, furnishings and fixtures in all mission buildings and facilities including residential owned and leased properties. The incumbent repairs, adjusts, and installs doors, windows, walls, ceilings, floor coverings, sunshades, and blinds. The incumbent performs routine maintenance on equipment by lubricating machines, changing filters, cleaning lines of hoses and spray applicators, air compressors motor, lines, and filters

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of building assemblies, furnishings and fixture operations.

Education Requirements: Completion of secondary school is required and/ or completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with a concentration in carpentry is required or Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) skills test certification in carpentry trade is required.

Evaluations: These may be tested (Language, Skills and Abilities):

LANGUAGE: Limited speaking/reading/writing English is required. Good Working Knowledge speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Communication skills to answer queries from end-users are required. A flexible approach to work shifts and answer emergency calls at all hours is required. Valid class A an B driving license is required.

COVID-19 Requirements for Eligible Family Members
As required by Executive Order 14043, Eligible Family Members who will be employed on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Temporary Appointment (TEMP) are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee’s duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law.
