Background:
Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international development and humanitarian organization that responds to the call of the neglected, vulnerable, and marginalized beyond the barriers of race, nationality, religion, ideology, and geography. GNI empowers people in 46 countries across the world through social development activities and places particular emphasis on economic development in order to break the vicious cycle of poverty that people in developing countries suffer from. Established in 1991 in Seoul, South Korea, GNI has fundraising offices in Chile, Mexico, USA, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and an International Cooperation Office in Geneva, Switzerland.
In Nepal, GNI has been working since 2002 for improving the lives of poor people, especially children through child protection, education, income generation, health services, water, sanitation and hygiene, disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation, and advocacy programs. Currently, GNI Nepal serves marginalized, vulnerable, and poor children, families, and communities in 22 districts across Nepal.
GNI Nepal is implementing a health project in Mugu District for subsequent management of improving maternal and child health care. Hence, the project office invites application from 2 eligible Nepali citizens who are committed, reliable and have ability to deliver results for the position of Team Leader to be based in Mugu.
Scope of Work:
Team Leader– is responsible for designing, planning and implementation of the overall project activities in Mugu District. As a core resource of the project, he/she is also responsible for overall supervision, monitoring and reporting of the activities of the project complying the GNI Nepal policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Design and Implementation
- Develop annual/quarterly work plan with indicators
- Develop activity execution guidelines and field-based tools for implementation of the project
- Suggest strategies and actions deemed for MNCH (maternal, neonatal and child health) related activities
- Identify problems and suggest corrective action concerning programmatic issues
2. Advocacy
- Organize awareness raising events on MNCH
- Develop IEC and BCC materials such as success stories, fact sheets, posters, booklets, brochures, material for newsletters, and audio visual tools
3. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop monitoring tools, conduct field assessment, analyze the data and map available resources in communities and develop indicators
- Develop reporting format and system in consultation with MEAL Department at Head Office
- Track/monitor progress against planned activities and keep record in order to meet the overall goal of the project
- Submit monthly report to the concerned staff
- Design and facilitate assessment and survey, if needed
- Monitor activities and achievement of other partner organizations and report on monthly basis
- Document experiences, lessons learnt, best practices and replicable strategies/approaches and support in knowledge management
4. General administration & Financial Management
- Facilitate finance officer for timely fund request, fund release and financials settlement
- Oversee the financial transaction, bank details, procurement process, bidding documents, HR mobilization records, leave records and other day to day operations
- Check financial management system and compliance
- Prepare activity Vs budget tracking sheet and consolidate the financial report in cooperation with finance officer
5. Human Resources Management
- Plan for capacity development of project and partner members for project efficiency
- Organize non budgetary internal workshop/sharing meeting for staff members
- Evaluate individual activities and performance management of each individual staffs
- Conduct regular meeting with staffs
6. Coordination & Collaboration
- Coordinate with partner organizations, Mugu hospital, INGOs, Local Government and local stakeholders to avoid duplication of activities and resource sharin
- Contribute to the creation of partnerships by developing strategic relations and alliances with line agencies
- Represent GNI Nepal in Health and WASH cluster meeting at district level
7. Field Visit and Reporting
- Conduct field visit as per the requirement
- Track field visit plan of project staffs
- Prepare field visit plan and share the field visit report and discuss the major findings, challenges and issues during field visit in project interventions among the team for timely improvement
8. Others
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
Job Specification:
- Master’s degree in Public Health or Hospital Management having at least 5 years of experience in humanitarian and/or development organization for public health related projects.
- Expertise on result based project management, research techniques, different approaches of data collection, analysis of public health especially maternal and neonatal health.
- Able to manage implementation of baseline studies, monitoring and evaluations, ensuring quality methodology and analysis as well as timely delivery.
- Experience in conducting impact studies including tool design, data analysis, innovative
reporting and documenting best practices for organizational learning. - Evidenced experience of working with developing result framework including strong program development, design and monitoring skills including experience in developing
M&E systems of public health related projects. - Strong participatory management and supervision skills including interpersonal, communications, training and facilitation skills.
