Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of American Citizen Services (ACS) Assistant. This vacancy is open to all interested applicants.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Occasional travel may be required.

Duties

The incumbent performs routine consular services for American citizens and provides assistance with emergency ACS cases. The incumbent drafts routine correspondence, prepares cases for review by the Consular Officer, maintains ACS records, responds to telephone queries on a variety of ACS issues, and develops reliable local contacts and resources. Assists in anti-fraud investigation work associated with citizenship. When needed, the incumbent provides assistance to other units in the Consular Section.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements: EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years of experience in any clerical or administrative work is required.

Education Requirements: Completion of two years of university studies is required.

Evaluations: These may be tested (Language, Skills and Abilities):

LANGUAGE: Fluent speaking/reading/writing English is required. Fluent speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ability to work with automated office equipment (word processing, email, and internet) is required. The ability to exercise tact in dealing with numerous clienteles, and the ability to work on emergency cases under continuous pressure are also required. A good knowledge and working experience of Windows-based computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Uses proprietary consular systems for American Citizen Service
