MEAL Officer


The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Janakpur, Nepal.

The MEAL Officer is responsible for the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning System of the EU supported project “Promoting Citizen Empowerment and Inclusive Democracy in Province 2” in line with EU and Welthungerhilfe standards, ensuring efficient information and data management, improving data quality, strengthening knowledge sharing, ensuring accountability and learning process across the organization, with partners and other stakeholders.


Your responsibilities

  • Ensure and support to roll out Monitoring Framework in the field as per donor requirements
  • Ensure monthly and quarterly plans in place and executed accordingly
  • Provide on the spot inputs to the partners as and when needed
  • Ensure timely reporting and data collection (Quarterly, Interim and Final)
  • Support maintain GESI disaggregated database and update
  • Ensure Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) are adhered to and complaint and feedback mechanism is in place
  • Support partners to use of Akvo Flow tool (data collection tool)
  • Support baseline/feasibility studies and evaluations in the project areas
  • Document lessons learned and best practices, photo documentation and contribute to the dissemination among the partners and stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence of communication and visibility plan of the project
  • Any other duties assigned by the Partner Advisor and Country MEAL
  • Ensure the roll out of measuring success indicators and collection of data

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Social science or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in a similar position
  • Expertise in results-based monitoring & evaluation, incl. excellent reporting and writing skills
  • Experience with Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and accountability framework
  •  Experience in working with international donor agencies or INGOs will be an asset
  • Preference will be given to the candidates having experiences on agriculture projects
