Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Economic and Commercial Assistant This vacancy is open to all interested applicants.

The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week).

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

Working in the Political and Economic Section of the U.S. Mission, the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative and logistical support for the trade promotion events and activities under the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP). The incumbent organizes and facilitates CLDP programming by designing and implementing conferences and workshops, utilizing long and short-term advisors, and training foreign delegations in the U.S. and other countries to improve commercial legal frameworks. The incumbent also provides logistical and other supports to the Political and Economic section. The incumbent collects and reports information related to commercial and economic issues.




Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: At least three years of progressively responsible experience in business management, government or NGOs in business and economic development, economics or international trade is required.

Education Requirements: Two years of college studies is required.

Evaluations: These may be tested (Language, Skills and Abilities).

LANGUAGE: Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing Nepali is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skills in word processing and data management; ability to maintain contacts with key interlocutors in both public and private sectors.
