IPPAN is a not-for-profit umbrella organization of private sector energy developers, IPPAN invites applications from qualified candidates for these posts under a two year contract (including six months of probation period) with possibility of extension
Position: Senior Manager
Academic qualification and preferred skills
The applicant should be a graduate; a master’s degree will be an added advantage. S/He should have experience of working in power sector development or research in similar roles at least for five years. Previous experience in the energy sector (hydropower/solar) development or research will be given preference. S/He should be well acquainted with Nepal’s as well as regional energy market specifically for hydro and solar power development.
The job description for the said role includes, but is not limited to the following:
1. To assist the CEO in running the secretariat and coordinate meetings, prepare minutes, circulate to members for comments and finalize the minutes
2. To carry out research, draft policy/white papers and other relevant documents related to the power sector, and also arrange training and seminars in coordination with coordinate with resource person(s) as and when required
3. To assist the CEO in coordinating the activities of IPPAN with the Government and other national and foreign institutions with a view to maintaining good professional and friendly relations for the development of IPPAN as a trustworthy organization that supports power development efforts of the country
4. Further assist the CEO in leading & organizing fundraising activities as directed by the EC as well as preparing the annual budget, maintaining accounts of income and expenditure, and support in the annual audit
5. To publish regular newsletters, annual reports of activities, financial statements of income and expenditures
6. To assist the CEO in preparing the annual program of IPPAN, coordinate the execution of annual activities, and maintain records and files of all correspondences and activities
7. To obtain relevant records, publications, and legal documents related to Hydropower, Solar, and water resources developments, policies, guidelines including relevant acts, regulations by the Government of Nepal. Further, obtain guidelines and periodicals from World Bank, ADB, and other donor agencies to establish a library for reference by the members and individuals
8. To develop projects, project proposals and to participate in R&D projects
9. To represent IPPAN for programs and activities under the guidance and instructions of EC where a general presence of IPPAN is warranted and act on behalf of IPPAN in an appropriate situation
10. To follow general rules and guidelines of IPPAN while discharging the duties and responsibilities.
Position: Information Management Officer
Academic qualification and preferred skills
The applicant should be a graduate in any discipline but conversant in Information Technology. S/He should have a minimum of one year of experience in a similar position. S/He should have experience of working with the Government, semi-government, local institutions, NGOs, or INGOs. Knowledge of office administration and computer skills. S/He should have excellent command over English and Nepali language (both oral and written) and strong computer and information management skills.
The job description of the IMO includes, but is not limited to the following:
1. To organize and manage the information of the IPPAN office as per the rules and regulations set by IPPAN Executive Committee
2. To design, develop and regularly update a database Management system to keep up to date information of :
i. Existing Power Plants, Transmission and Distribution network in Nepal
ii. Institutions/Organizations involved in the power sector
iii. Consulting firms/Contractors/human resources involved in the power sector
iv. Power sector licensee and their status on project development
v. Nepalese/International laws and regulations on power development
vi. Potential new projects for development
vii. Any other relevant information
3. To keep all the members of IPPAN informed about the activities of IPPAN, programs, and meeting schedules, etc.
4. To circulate the decisions of the meeting to all members, other relevant agencies and follow up on actions to be taken
5. To coordinate with different relevant institutions and collect data and information from disparate sources, analyze and input collected data in the system on a regular basis
6. To update and upkeep the hydro-power map developed
7. To assist the secretariat in obtaining relevant records, publications, and legal documents related to Hydropower, Solar, and water resources developments, policies, guidelines including relevant acts, regulations by the Government of Nepal. Further, obtain guidelines and periodicals from World Bank, ADB, and other donor agencies to establish a library for reference by the members and individuals
8. To collect details of online downloadable publications related to the energy sector and update the library database. Also, upgrade the existing Library Management Information system of IPPAN
9. To share relevant information on IPPAN’s Facebook & LinkedIn page
10. To develop different tools to keep the IPPAN’s website up-to-date and efficient
11. Train IPPAN staff on different IT issues as necessary
12. To manage Local Area Network (LAN) of IPPAN
13. To assist the secretariat team in conducting workshops, seminars, and conferences, etc.
14. To follow general rules and guidelines of IPPAN while discharging the duties and responsibilities.
The remuneration package is negotiable for both the positions and will be commensurate with the qualification and experience of successful candidates.
