The purpose of the role is to support the delivery FP&A objectives and provide professional and value-added support to the Financial Planning and Analysis unit. The role holder will support the country finance teams, helping them to consolidate information, to provide analysis and to facilitate effective business processes and workflows.
The position holder is responsible to oversee the compliance and requirement of implementing awards funded by various sources and quality reporting in time. This includes preparation of master budget and forecast budget. S/he will also responsible to support during cost proposals of complex donor like USAID/ SIDA/ ECHO/ KOICA in line with donor budget guidance, SCI procedures, and CO requirements. Award budgets are reviewed and monitored effectively so that budget holders are aware of and advised on the financial progress.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Financial Planning, Analysis and Forecasting
- Master budget and quarterly re-forecasts are performed as per SCI requirements and guidance, in close coordination with budget holders and field offices.
- Support budget holders with the preparation of budgets and forecasts including variance analysis.
- Develop different level of financial analysis to provide insight and timely actionable information
- Design an improvement of financial forecasting, reporting and modelling tools that achieve financial and award management KPIs and essential standards.
- Ensure all required process of CAM is in place and further action require for fully CAM compliant award budget.
- Provide financial information for external requirement and reporting
- Support the design and testing of FP&A process improvements as required.
Proposal Development
- Develop budget on standard template as a part of proposal where all required information is captured.
- Coordinate with Award, PDQ, POD and other relevant departments in relation to budget planning for new funding opportunity.
- Ensure all the donor requirements are capture in proposal budget preparation.
- All the steps of proposal development processes are followed and align as per SCI guidance
Award Administration and Reporting
- Manage grants properly – to ensure donor billing and reporting, review project costs as per the grant’s requirement, and monitors financial progress up to the level of sub-office; and facilitates re-classes and adjustments as appropriate
- Responsible for award budget consolidation and loading into Agresso within timeframe
- Support budget holder / field team in budget realignment and revision for awards.
- Prepare and submit donor reports and ensuring timely submission to funding members.
- Donor and member feedback are addressed with close coordination of BH and award.
- Engage in kick off meeting to dessimate budget information and donor requirements.
- Liaise with SCI AMS and Finance Teams to ensure that all information in AMS and FMS is up to date.
- Participate in appropriate monitoring mechanism and support for capacity building for any partners in the field offices
- Support on BVA meeting for monitoring of award performance.
Coordination
- Work closely with Budget Holders, Finance personnel and field staff on financial planning and analysis to achive SCI goal.
- Support to provide financial analysis for ARO requirement for Nepal & Bhutan country office
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in in Accounting/ Finance/ Economics or related field.
- 3 years of professional experience in development sector on financial management
- Strong computer skills, proficient on MS Office application, especially on MS Excel, and any accounting software,
- Ability to be proactive and logical in problem-solving scenarios
- Ability to coach, mentor and provide guidance to finance teams and managers of organization and partners.
- Strong time management and personal organisation skills with an ability to plan, anticipate requirements, and obstacles, and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully, and to work to tight deadlines

- Verbal and written fluency in English
Desirable:
- Experienced in a multi-currency multi sector finance environment
- Microsoft excel Power pivot and business intelligence modelling
