Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national-level campaign-based NGO working for women’s human rights and ensuring women empowerment by protecting and promoting human rights and social justice, focusing on campaigns against violence against women and women’s economic, social, and social social-cultural rights nation-wide. Our working districts with offices are spread over Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Siraha, Dhanusha, Dang, Kailali, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rukum, and the Central Office is located in Lalitpur. WOREC is currently looking for candidates to fulfill the following positions:
Economic Social and Cultural Rights Coordinator –ESCR Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervisory Responsibility: All staff of ESCR
The ESCR coordinator will be responsible for the organization’s engagement in promoting, protecting, and fulfilling ESC rights of women and marginalized sections of society, including promotion of livelihood options generation and agriculture market systems development for all the projects having social inclusiveness and sustainable livelihood component. The position is also responsible for the technical analysis of upcoming projects, to advise in the management of plans and programs at the central level and engagement with funding partners, provide technical advice and analysis for designing the new activities aimed at supporting poor households to realize their right to a social dignity, secure and resilient livelihood. The Manager should lead and mobilize the team, design, facilitate and conduct the related training programs. The position will lead the national voluntary review and reporting process of ESCR and represent national and international advocacy and human rights protection and promotion activities focusing on ESC rights of specific sections of society.
The ESCR Coordinator should have conceptual clarity of rights-based approach, feminist principles, gender equality, and diversity and will work to contribute and support to achieve the objectives, goals, mission, and vision of WOREC in general.
The candidate should have a Master’s Degree in Agriculture/Forestry/Natural Resource Management, Development Studies or related field with at least three years of relevant experience should have a broad understanding of women’s ESC rights, including rights to mobility, labor rights, freedom of expression, food security and agro-based enterprise development, disaster risk management, knowledge on health and nutrition, understanding of local situation/language/culture, and ability to write and communicate effectively in both Nepali and English.
The Duties and Responsibilities of this position are:
- Overall managerial and technical responsibility to drive best practices of all economic empowerment, including livelihood options, SMEs, agro-based and climate change adaptation planning, implementation, monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
- Plan and implement the programs to ensure women’s social and cultural rights, including the participation of inter-generational groups and groups of intersections.
- Develop monitoring and evaluation framework for all projects and programs related to ESC rights promotion and protection.
- Ensure effective monitoring, supervision, and evaluation of Sustainable Livelihood and income-generating activities as per the standards in the reporting requirement of related projects.
- Manage the team and take the lead to provide guidance, support, and technical input to sustainable livelihood programs (JTAs, CLAs, and Social Mobilisers) and the ESCR team.
- Design and support the Sustainable Livelihoods Programs/Component, including planning, monitoring, and managing the Programs/Livelihood and market linkage component.
- Provide support in developing proposals related to the social norms change, economic sustainability, sustainable livelihoods program, and fundraising to ensure the organization’s sustainability.
- Develop key partnerships with the policymakers, funding partners, partner NGOs, and all stakeholders, including concerned government agencies.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure effective gender mainstreaming and ensure gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in sustainable livelihood and income-generating activities, including production and market opportunities.
- Represent the organization in all related coordination groups and structures at local, national, and international levels.
- Support in research, documentation, and publication of IEC materials on ESC rights areas based on the best practices, lessons learned, case studies, etc.
- Contribute to articles, documents, research reports, and photographs for the purpose of knowledge management in the organization and for communication with other stakeholders.
- Provide technical support for production and market system development as and when required.
- Explore areas where our learning can be used in policy advocacy and policy research.
