JOB OPPORTUNITY



International Organization for Migration (IOM) is looking for suitable candidate for the position of Driver to assist Medical Health Department as part of Front Line of Defense (FLOD) through UN COVID-19 Clinic, according to the Terms of Reference below. Position: Driver

Duty Station : Kathmandu
Type of Appointment : Ungraded, 1 month, with possibility of extension
Estimated Starting Date : As soon as possible
Closing Date : 31 May 2021

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the National Procurement Logistics Officer and direct supervision of Common Services Assistant, the driver is responsible for providing driving support to for smooth operation of IOM FLOD activities and authorised staff travel in Kathmandu and outside the valley.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. Drive IOM vehicles and transport authorized personnel and others as requested by the supervisor.
2. Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicle: oil check, water, batter, brakes, tires, etc., within the capacity of the Motor Pool.
3. Ensure that IOM vehicles are used only for official/authorized business as advised by the supervisor. 4. Filling in of the daily log sheet for travel including mileage, fuel consumption, destinations, and passengers in English.
5. Keep a high degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions which involve IOM and its officials.
6. Ensure that the steps required by the local rules and regulations (pertaining to driving) are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
7. Compliance with security practices and radio checks as it pertains to the UNDSS security plans for Nepal.
8. Perform other duties as may be required.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • Secondary education is required.
  • Valid driving license for light and heavy vehicles. Experience
  • Minimum two years of experience driving for large organizations or companies; Languages
  • Fluency in English and Nepali is required. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
