International Organization for Migration (IOM) is looking for suitable candidate for the position of Consultant – Migration Health Physician to assist Medical Health Department as part of Front Line of Defense (FLOD) through UN COVID-19 Clinic, according to the Terms of Reference below. Context:
Under overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, Chief Migration Health Officer and direct supervision of the IOM Migration Health Physician in charge of the Isolation Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for providing medical expert consultation and management plan of the COVID-19 patient on daily basis under IOM MHD.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. To be able to work as a consultant, treating physician at the UN COVID-19 clinic and at the 12-bedded isolation centre for treatment of moderate COVID 19 patients, UN staff members and dependents.
2. Provide evidence-based medicine assessment, treatment and medical care as well as prepare treatment management plans for the COVID-19 patients in the isolation centre.
3. Daily follow up and treatment plan of the COVID-19 patient.
4. Be able to respond to telephone call from the duty doctor/nurse anytime and coordinate ambulance car response for patient pick-up during the night shift.
5. Alert severe cases to the Chief Migration Health Officer for possibility of escalation of care of the patient to higher centre with intensive care facility.
6. Alert IOM doctor on duty, chief nurse for cases which requires medical evacuation.
7. Daily direct reporting to the IOM medical doctor in charge and chief nurse of the isolation centre with handover of shift at least 30 min prior end of the duty.
8. Regular reporting to the Chief Migration Health Officer and IOM Migration Health Physician in charge of the Isolation Unit.
9. Liaise with the IOM MHD team on the isolation facility needs and quality updates.
10. Perform the duty hours assigned as per the rotation: shift from 19:00 until 07:00.
11. Any other duties assigned by the Chief Migration Health Officer.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- Master’s degree in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Practice Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Anaesthesia from accredited Institution with 3 years of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine with 5 years of professional experience.
- Valid license to practice medicine in Nepal.
Experience
- Post graduate training and/or working experience in any of the following domainsIntensive and pulmonary and critical care, pulmonary medicine, emergency medicine– is a distinctive advantage.
- Previous experience in direct medical treatment and stabilization of COVID-19 patients.
- Thorough medical knowledge of communicable diseases and COVID-19
- Training or working experience in the areas of ICU and immunization will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated awareness of gender issues.
- Effectively applies knowledge of health issues in execution of responsibilities at appropriate level
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion in appropriate areas of work
- Knowledge of the Nepalese health system.
- BLS/ACLS certification Other Requirements
- Personal health insurance package that covers C-19
- COVID-19 vaccination completed Languages
- Fluency in English and Nepali is required. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
