The UNESCO Office in Kathmandu is implementing various education projects such as Capacity Building for Education, Literacy & Lifelong Learning; Gender mainstreaming in Teacher’s Education; Comprehensive Sexuality Education & Safe Learning Environment for adolescent girls; ICT in Education and SDG 4 Education 2030, in close cooperation with the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Education. Science and Technology, the National Planning Commission, and the Nepal National Commission for UNESCO.

In order to coordinate the implementation of the projects in the field of education, the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu seeks applications from qualified Nepalese candidates for the following position. The candidate will coordinate a team of personnel in education unit and oversee the implementation and progress status of the projects in close supervision of National Professional Officer (NPO) in Education. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring all projects of education sector are being well executed and have good coordination with all partners and stakeholders. The candidate will work as deputy to the National Professional Officer of Education Unit and will represent the organization during his absence. The candidate will be expected to perform the following:

Position Title : Senior Programme Coordinator
> Condition of Employment :  Full-time based in UNESCO Kathmandu Office, with frequent field visits
> Type of Contract : Service Contract
> Salary scale : SB 3, Band D, Step 1            
> Net monthly Salary : NPR 108,789  (Tax applicable)
> Additional benefits : Provident fund & Medical insurance

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent shall coordinate the implementation of the project, under the overall authority of the Head of the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and UNESCO Representative to Nepal, and direct supervision of National Professional Officer (NPO) in Education Unit.




In particular, s/he shall:
1. Assist the NPO in planning, implementing and reporting on Programme activities in the field of Education.
2. Ensure day-to-day implementation of project activities;
3. Liaise with project partners and stakeholders;
4. Assist to ensure reporting and evaluation;
5. Assist to organize the project activities and documentation;
6. Contribute to the outreach of the projects.
