A lessons from Taro Plant

There is a saying in mauritian language ' dilo ler brede songe' which means water on taro leaves. They use this saying when a person is surrounded by negativity and bad condition. The above saying means taro plants even in heavy rain don't let it to wet its leaves rather it uses rain water to clean it's whole body. This self cleaning process of plant is known as lotus effect. By this self cleaning process taro plant makes itself looks beautiful.


Taro plants are among one of few plants which can be grown under flooded condition.This is due to air spaces in the petiole, which permit underwater gaseous exchange with the atmosphere. 
All parts of Taro plants are used to make different dishes and that are delicious. Stem, leaves and even root of Taro plant is used as vegetables and it is rich source of vitamin, magnesium, potassium and calcium.

Taro leaves which is also known as elephant ears due to shape of its broad leaves are also cultivated for decorative or floral reasons. It helps in digestion, prevents from some types of cancer and also useful for diabetics patients.

So lessons from Taro plant is that man should be strong enough so that no one can stop him from growing in his career.
There is always obstacles but one should learn to tackle it and survive in difficulty situation. Man should continuously work to make it more knowledgeable as taro use rain water to clean itself. One should believe on himself rather than expecting something from other and find out his own way. And finally one should be useful for society, country and should take care of its environment.
